What is Federal Work-Study (FWSP)?
The Federal Work-Study Program offers students with financial need the chance to earn money while working at local nonprofit organizations. You get paid for your work, and you help a cause that matters!
Here’s how it works:
- The Government covers 75% of your wages.
- The Nonprofit Organization pays the remaining 25%.
- Calvin’s Financial Services manages your payroll and ensures you’re paid at least the minimum wage.

Who Qualifies for Federal Work-Study?
FWSP is available to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students at Calvin who demonstrate financial need through their FAFSA application.
How Much Can You Earn?
You’ll earn at least the federal minimum wage, though some positions may pay more. The total amount you can earn through work-study depends on the work-study award given to you, and the number of hours you work will be determined by both your school schedule and academic progress.
