The Calvin University Virtual Career Center (referred to as the Career Hub) now features an AI-powered search assistant. Instead of relying on perfect keywords or clicking through several pages, you can ask a career-related question in your own words and receive relevant results from the resources available on the Career Hub.
Ask a Question, Not a Search Engine Riddle
Traditional search tools sometimes make you guess the exact phrase needed to find what you want. The new AI assistant works more like a conversation.
You might ask:
- “How can I improve my resume?”
- “What internships are available in marketing?”
- “How should I prepare for a behavioral interview?”
- “What can I do with my major?”
- “Are there any upcoming networking events?”
- “Where can I find resources for international students?”
The more specific your question is, the more relevant the results can be. No advanced prompting skills are required.
The assistant searches Career Center content and can direct you toward resources, events, jobs, internships and other opportunities that relate to your question. It does not search the open internet, which means its results come from the career information available through Calvin’s platform.

You can explore the Career Center website at any time, but signing in with your Calvin account helps the AI assistant provide results that are more relevant to your profile, interests and previous activity.
Think of it as the difference between asking, “Are there internships?” and asking, “Are there communications internships that might fit my interests and experience?”
One question gives the assistant somewhere to start. The other gives it directions.
A Helpful Tool, Not a Replacement for Career Coaching
The AI assistant can help you locate information quickly, especially when the Career Center is closed or you are working on your career plans outside regular office hours. However, it is not designed to replace a conversation with a career coach.
Career development can involve complicated decisions, personal circumstances and the occasional “I have no idea what I am doing” moment. Those situations often benefit from an actual human being.
Use the AI assistant to discover resources, explore possibilities and prepare better questions. Then connect with the Career Center team when you need personalized advice, feedback or support. The tool is the starting point, not the entire journey.
