Akamai’s Information Security team is responsible for safeguarding Akamai, its customers, and the Internet worldwide. We are looking for an intern to help provide data analysis for the security of the internet.
In our 12-week summer intern program, you’ll have the opportunity to join us for development trainings and network with Akamai employees.

In this role, you’ll ensure security risks and issues within the organization are identified and managed in accordance with Akamai policies. You’ll collaborate with industry-leading security experts and leaders on a global team playing a critical role in our success by managing the capabilities within InfoSec.
As an Intern – InfoSec Compliance, you will be responsible for:
- Automating Security Pipelines: Collaborating on the development and maintenance of our InfoSec DevOps toolchain, focusing on CI/CD integration and automated security testing.
- Assisting in management of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools to oversee security assets and cloud infrastructure using modern automation frameworks.
- Supporting our GenAI & Tooling Innovation initiatives to automate threat detection workflows and enhance internal security tooling.
- Building integrated dashboards that provide real-time visibility into tool performance, system health, and security coverage to contribute to Operational Excellence.
Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
- Be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Data Analysis, Data Science, Computer Science, or another related field.
- Have a technical foundation with (or hunger to learn) scripting languages like Python or Go, and version control systems like Git.
- Have exposure to DevOps, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), a basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions), ability to learn data visualization (Tableau).
- Have effective communication and analytical skills, with a “security-first” mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Our 12-week summer internship program starts in May. The program requires you to be available 40 hours per week during summer months (May-August). We offer the opportunity to work part-time during the academic year.

Compensation
Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only – the base salary for this position ranges from $28-$35/hr; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary.
