Position Overview:
The Mental Wellness Support Intern will assist Fear 2 Freedom (F2F) in integrating mental wellness resources with community development initiatives aimed at expanding our programs and services throughout Virginia. This internship will provide an opportunity to gain experience in nonprofit program management, community wellness outreach, and partnership development, while contributing to F2F’s mission of restoring hope and dignity to survivors of sexual assault while empowering students and communities to combat sexual violence.
The intern will specifically work on connecting mental wellness support with community development programs, understanding the intersection of trauma recovery, economic resilience, and contributing to strategies that promote long-term healing for individuals impacted by sexual violence.
Responsibilities/Main Projects Include:
Partnership Development & Mental Wellness Support:
● Research and identify mental wellness providers, organizations, and services that align with F2F’s mission to support survivors of sexual violence and integrate mental wellness support.
● Assist in the development of outreach materials that emphasize the importance of mental wellness for survivors and communities.
● Help organize events with mental wellness professionals to promote awareness and support around sexual violence.
Community Outreach & Mental Wellness Integration:
● Support F2F’s outreach efforts to build partnerships with mental wellness organizations, offering survivors comprehensive support that includes violence prevention programs.
● Work closely with local community organizations, mental wellness professionals, and other stakeholders to raise awareness about mental wellness services available to survivors of marginalized and underserved populations.
Market Research & Mental Wellness Resources:
● Conduct research on the impact of sexual violence on mental wellness and economic stability within targeted regions.
● Analyze trends and gaps in mental wellness services for survivors, contributing insights that will help guide F2F’s resource allocation and program development.
Program Promotion & Mental Wellness Awareness:
● Support the promotion of educational programs and events that highlight the importance of mental wellness care for survivors of sexual violence.
● Assist in creating and distributing mental wellness-focused content, such as blogs, newsletters, or social media posts, that discusses the importance of trauma recovery.
Volunteer Engagement in Mental Wellness Programs:
● Assist in developing volunteer training materials that emphasize trauma-informed care, mental wellness awareness, and the importance of integrating mental wellness support into community development efforts.
Applicable Skills and Knowledge:
● Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to gather, interpret, and present data clearly.
● Knowledge of mental wellness issues related to trauma and sexual violence, particularly in underserved or marginalized communities.
● Familiarity with community outreach, and partnership development.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail.
