Internship – LivingWell Care Provider – 20-40 hours/per week
LivingWell Institute (LWI) is a community health nonprofit that offers a unique approach to wellness where compassionate care providers help people discover how to improve their well–being and live a life full of purpose and passion. Our mission is to educate, engage and empower people to take responsibility for their health and to be well in mind, body and spirit. We provide Lifestyle Education Programs and family restoration services for individuals and families that struggle with trauma, chronic pain, addiction recovery, anxiety and depression. Community health focused, family centered, nature-based and interactive experiential education to help people learn to LiveWell.
Internship Description
LWI is looking for summer interns with a health science or human service background and a passion for caring for people. The intern for this position will need strong communication and critical thinking skills and a desire to help individuals and families who learn how to care for their mind, body, and spirit through participation in an experiential lifestyle education program in the community. LWI provides professional training in the Lifestyle Education Program and for integrative health coaching for all interns as part of this work experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide support for individuals and families to learn to take responsibility for their health including exercise and physical activity, cooking, finding housing, education, financial budgeting, and parenting;
- Provide transportation for individuals and families to LivingWell services, to appointments, and community support resources; and
- Assist with facilitating group health education programs at River Exchange, Hershey office, and off-site locations.
Requirements
- Public Health or human service major (or other related field);
- Energetic, creative, and compassionate;
- Hard-working and ability to work well in teams;
- Strong verbal and written communication;
- Strong work ethic, integrity, and attention to detail; and
- Reliable transportation.
