Role Overview
This internship provides an exciting opportunity for a motivated student or recent graduate to work on a digital transformation project within a growing engineering business. The successful candidate will help identify opportunities for improving operational efficiency, data management, business intelligence, and automation through the use of digital technologies.
The role will focus on data analytics, automation, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation strategy, supporting Clarke Welding Services in modernising business processes and improving decision-making through technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and map existing business processes across operational and administrative functions.
- Analyse current data collection and reporting methods.
- Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements.
- Research and evaluate suitable AI and digital tools for engineering and business operations.
- Support the development of dashboards and reporting systems to improve business intelligence.
- Assist with data cleansing, organisation, and analysis activities.
- Produce recommendations for digital transformation initiatives and implementation priorities.
- Engage with staff to understand challenges and gather requirements.
- Prepare project documentation, reports, and presentations for management.
- Support the implementation and testing of selected digital solutions where appropriate.

Essential
- Currently studying towards, or recently completed, a degree in:
- Data Analytics
- Computer Science
- Engineering
- Business Technology
- Digital Innovation
- Or a related discipline
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of Microsoft Excel and data analysis techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities.
- Confidence engaging with colleagues across different functions.
- Interest in manufacturing, engineering, and digital technologies.
Desirable
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools.
- Knowledge of AI applications, automation tools, or machine learning concepts.
