Summary of Responsibilities:
The IT Intern will support our internal IT department in providing technical assistance, maintaining computer systems, and configuring hardware and software. The successful candidate will be able to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, assist with the implementation of new technologies, and provide training and support to team members.
*This position will work out of our Grand Rapids office but will require up to 2 weeks of training at our Lansing location.
*The intern will work up to 30 hours per week through the summer with the opportunity to stay on part time through the school year.
Essential Functions:
- Provide superb technical system and user support by responding to calls, email, and personal requests for technical support.
- Document, track, and monitor problems to ensure a timely resolution.
- Offer guidance and help users solve common software problems. Helps staff with computer/printer problems (hardware and software).
- Resolve technical problems, detect patterns of issues, and coordinate with staff regarding persistent problems.
- Provide assistance with documenting software program/hardware customizations and procedures.
- Sets up new users on network and provides access to appropriate software.
- Keeps inventory of computer equipment.
Education, Experience and Skills Required
- Currently pursing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a technology related field.
- Proven customer service and problem solving skills, providing remote support services.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Highly organized, with excellent prioritization, planning and time management skills.
- Executes assignments of a confidential nature; requires ability to keep matters confidential.
- Strong verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
