Summer Intern at UrbanPromise Wilmington

About Us
UrbanPromise Wilmington is a Christian nonprofit committed to equipping children and young adults with the skills needed for academic success, life management, personal growth, and servant leadership. We serve youth and families in Wilmington, DE through holistic, relationship-driven programs.

Position Overview
UrbanPromise summer interns serve for a period of 2 months, working directly with children and youth in our summer camps. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about youth development, community engagement, and faith-based service.

Interns play a key role in building meaningful relationships, leading activities, and contributing to a safe, fun, and structured environment for students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead engaging lessons, activities, and programs for children
  • Build positive, mentoring relationships with youth
  • Supervise children and ensure a safe, structured environment
  • Follow and help implement daily schedules and curriculum
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and community activities
  • Assist with program setup, cleanup, and daily operations
  • Support behavior management using established systems
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and child protection policies
  • Model positive behavior and contribute to a welcoming, Christ-centered environment

Community & Spiritual Life

  • Participate in regular team devotions, meetings, and community meals
  • Engage in personal spiritual growth and reflection

Qualifications/Skills

  • At least 18 years old
  • Interest in working with children and youth
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Additional Details

  • Housing is provided for interns
  • Duration: 2 months (flexible based on program)
  • Location: Wilmington, Delaware
